Hello, Dearest Members... You will find, in this Issue, the fourth and final
part of our series, "Children's Letters to God"... And, I dedicate the
following statement by Mr. Babacan, the "Minister Responsible for Turkish
Economy", to some irate members of ours who find the series "irrelevant", to
say the least... -- If Allah doesn't come up with some obstruction, we will pay the nemas this month... -- Eğer Allah'tan bir mani olmazsa, nemaları bu ay ödeyeceğiz... Ali Babacan, Türkiye Ekonomisinden Sorumlu Bakan |
If you've found no fault with Mr. Babacan's logic quoted on the column left, you should not find it difficult to accept the apparent logic of children's letters to God either... So, rest assured that the nemas will be paid this month!!... Why should God ordain that they be paid not!! [NOT: Son tümcede kullandığım "Biblical" yapıyı, dilsel olarak örnek almayınız.] to dedicate = ithaf etmek... irate = öfkeli... irrelevant = quel alâka... To say the least = En hafif terimiyle ifade edecek olursak... Rest assured that = Müsterih olunuz ki... |

LANGUAGE TIPS
Bu kullanım, aşağıdaki örneklerin doğal bir uzantısıdır: |
|
Ali: "I don't smoke." Güneş: "I don't either." Ali doesn't smoke. Güneş doesn't either. You'd better give up smoking altogether. You shouldn't consume too much alcohol either. |
= = = |
Ali: "Ben sigara içmem." Güneş: "Ben de." Ali sigara içmez. Güneş de (içmez). En iyisi sigarayı tümüyle bırakınız. Çok fazla içki de içmemelisiniz. ["altogether" anlamına dikkat!!] |
