Scientist Accused of Examining
Terrorist's Brain
A German university is
investigating claims that one of its professors has been examining a brain for
signs of criminality.
It is said
that the Red
Army Faction terrorist Ulrike Meinhof's brain is being studied for signs of what
made her turn to violence.

Meinhof was a leader of the
RAF, a left-wing revolutionary group that spread fear across West Germany
in the 1970s and into the '80s after her death. The group was originally
known as the Baader-Meinhof gang.

sat in formaldehyde packed away among other specimens kept by pathologist

In 1997, Pfeiffer heard
about research being done by a professor at the psychiatric clinic of the
University of Magdeburg, according to Meinhof's daughter, Bettina Roehl.
She claims Magdeburg
psychiatry professor Bernhard Bogerts, who was researching whether a
murderer's brain could show physical signs of what caused the man to turn
to violence, was then secretly given the Meinhof's brain to study.

Pollmann says he is investigating the claim and whether laws have been
broken.

Pig to Protest against

Tension
A Belgian actor is to share
an iron cage with a pig for three days to protest about the rising
tensions between the US and Iraq.
Benjamin Verdonck, from
Antwerp, is to install the cage in a museum in Gent, near a big window so
he can be watched day and night by passers-by.

A man who broke into the
Norwegian parliament told police he had wanted only to go to the toilet.
The 33-year-old used a
screwdriver to break into the building in Oslo at 5am one morning last
February.
