01 Şu da doğru olurdu: "...... by the Doğan Group, the chairperson of which is Aydın Doğan." Fakat, çağdaş İngilizce açısından çok ağır ve kitabî olurdu.
02 On + Present Participle. Anlamını Türkçe'den de çağrıştırabilirsiniz: "hava alanına varmamız üzerine = varınca". Peşpeşe birbirini hızla izleyen ardışık durumlar için, "after we had arrived" yapısının yerine bu yapıyı tercih ediyoruz. Yani, bu bilgiyi hava alanına geldikten bir süre sonra edinmedik; varır varmaz öğrendik.
08 Çevirisi: Normalde (= genellikle) saat 7'de kalkarım, fakat bazen saat 6'dan önce kalkmak zorunda kalıyorum. [Dikkat ederseniz, Türkçe burada "continuous" anlatımı tercih ediyor. Çevirilerde, "simple veya continuous" tercihinde kaynak dile sıkı sıkıya bağlı kalmayınız; erek dilin gereklerini, güzelliklerini önplana alınız.
14 Geçmişte gerçekleşmemiş durumdan dolayı, koşul kipinin III. Tipini kullanıyoruz.
16 Bu soruda zorlandıysanız "gerund" (= ulaç, isim-fiil) konusundaki açığınızı kapatmanız gerekmektedir.
