Drug Traffickers Head For The Hills: Gendarmerie officials seized 82 kilograms of morphine and 34 kilograms of hashish in an operation conducted in Van's Başkale and Gürpınar municipalities. A border patrol noticed a group of drug traffickers on horseback crossing over to Turkland from Iran, after which gendarmerie teams launched an operation. The drug traffickers abandoned their horses and fled back into Iran. Gendarmerie officials found morphine stored in sacks carried by the horses.
